Year of the Chick

I want to start off by saying this is one the best series I have read in a while. I have been in a real reading rut lately. Every book I have started I don't finish. I haven't been able to find one book that could hold my attention and that is very rare for me because I love to read. For some reason all of the books I was trying I could not get into. I came across Year of the Chick on my nook and the best part is it's free! This isn't your normal short free book either! On my nook it was well over 500 pages. However, even though it was 500 pages I flew through it! I could not put this book down!
Year of the Chick is about an Indian girl on a quest to find the "perfect" guy in a year. In Indian culture it is common for a girls parents to find a respectable husband for her. Yep, you guessed it, an arranged marriage. The reason for Romi's (did I mention this is a true story?) deadline for finding Mr. Right in a year is so her father does not chose a husband for her. Can you imagine? I can't! I'm not going to tell you much more about the plot because I do not want to give away any spoilers! You will just have to read for yourself to find out whether or not Romi finds her Mr. Perfect with in her deadline...
The author did an amazing job writing this book. It was very well written and kept my interest the entire time. I mean, come on it had to be great for me to read this and the sequel in three days! I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit while reading it. My husband and son would look at me like I was crazy! Hey, maybe if they read the book (well, not my son he is only 2.5 years old so he can't read yet) they would be laughing too! I found myself rooting for Romi to find her Mr. Right and the times that she was discouraged I was there right along with her. Only a great author can make you feel what their characters are feeling. Romi has an amazing way with words. I could picture everything that was being described very clearly in my mind.
If you are looking for a new author to read I highly recommend Romi Moondi. You will not be disappointed! Plus you can download this book free on a kindle or nook! How can you not beat that? Be warned though once you read this I guarantee that you will purchase the sequel, Last-Minute Love.
For more updates about Romi check out her blog here. Leave her a comment or two, I bet she would love to hear what you thought of her book! Even though I do not write books I still love it when I get comments. It's nice to know that people care about what I am writing. Romi started off by writing a blog and then turned her blog work into a book. She is a inspiration to all of us blog writers. If one person can do it, who says we can't to? Maybe one day one of your books will be on Amazon!
Now stop reading my review and go read Year of the Chick! Let me know what you think of it :).
