We picked out our apartment today! Korean apartments are a lot different than American ones but I love it! A couple of exampled are when you enter the main door before you go in to your actual apartment there is a little room where you must take off your shoes before entering. The landlords ask that we will do this because it is apart of their culture. Another difference is how small the ovens are. Most of my pans and cookie sheets will not fit in the oven.
What I love about Korean apartments is how open and bright they are. We ended up choosing a three bedroom with a large balcony. I absolutely love it. The only thing I am not crazy about is its is on the third floor and there is no elevator. The stairs are made of marble so it makes me nervous with my son. I think it will be ok though. Another great thing is that cable and Internet is included and it has city gas. In Korea utilities are extremely expensive and having city gas will help keep the cost down a lot. They also provide water which is a plus. Drinking the tap water in Korea can be dangerous.
On Monday the housing office does an inspection and We sign the lease on Tuesday. We will also be moving in on Tuesday. I can not wait until our things arrive so I can set everything up!
Here is a peak at what it looks like:
